Heritage members are committed to service. We celebrate God's activity in the projects we undertake and support activities and attitudes that emphasize making a difference in the world.
Here are some of the projects, activities and relationships we participate in as people of faith:
On-going collection of non-perishable food items. In the fall, we sponsor a Haunted House for Hunger that benefits the Food Pantry. The Souper Bowl of Caring in February also benefits this group
Collection of over the counter medications and medical supplies for this Milwaukee free medical clinic
We serve meals and provide cookies and milk for this southside meal program 5 times a year.
We have also allocated money from our budget to support special appeals and emergency needs.
A loose change collection on the 3rd Sunday of the month supports this local, non-profit organization that shelters women and children who are displaced because of violence in the home. In addition, we provide Easter baskets for children living there.
We support this center for local needy with our "Undie 500" collection of underwear and socks. We often sponsor a table at their annual auction and provide cash donations.
Cold weather intervention ministry to the homeless in the Bay View and Cudahy areas. During November and December, we collect paper products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and Kleenex), cough drops and hand soap to support this ministry. We also prepare and serve meals for their S.O.S. program (Sharing Our Supper) and bag lunches for Larry Under the Bridge.
In December 2013, two large boxes filled with items from our Mitten Tree were delivered for their children's store: 2 crocheted lap quilts, 3 pairs of slippers, 2 footy PJs, 7 pairs of socks, 5 scarves, 38 pairs of gloves, 63 hats, and various toys. We were also able to donate $100 from our mission budget to their cause.
We participate in all four of the PC(USA) Special Offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peace and Global Witness, and Christmas Joy)
Supported by our quarter tubes, a portion of our budget, and special appeals.
We provide baby "kits" and clean-up "kits" and participate in the annual CROP Hunger Walk.
Raise money for water tanks and spigots for this area of Africa.
